He was sent because he was known to be a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit and faith. unless a man is born from above, A large crowd followed him, because they saw the signs he was performing on the sick. It was as if the risen Lord was creating him anew; his energies and gifts were being channelled in a new direction; he had become a new creation. The words of Jesus to Nicodemus in this mornings gospel reading are one of the strongest and most positive statements in the New Testament about God.
